What is a squeeze page?

Before we talk about why you need them, let’s talk about what they are. A squeeze page is basically an advertisement that is meant to draw subscribers into your list, or get them to click on links that will take them to your products or services. You make it short, you make it snappy, and you make it grab people’s attention so that they’ll go where you want to go. You want them to be enticed just ever so gently, just so that they’ll click subscribe to your list for “free,” so that they’ll be there to get the bonuses, the free information, and so on.

Why do you need a great squeeze page?

So why do you need one?

To grow your business

Of course, it’s there to help you grow your business. Free information is great, of course, but what you really want are customers. So your squeeze page (and therefore your subsequent subscriber list) is going to get you a ready source of customers that are always clued in on the “latest and greatest” when it comes to your business, whether it be the newest product or service, a 10% off special going on right now, bonuses when they buy, and so on.

To provide an attention grabber

A second reason you need a great squeeze page is that it’s simply an attention grabber. Write a great squeeze page, and you’ve got someone who’s interested in your business whether or not they subscribe to your list (which of course they probably will). Without that squeeze page, not only would you not have a ready customer base, but you may not capture people’s attention at all. So a great squeeze page is also a great way to advertise, indirectly. Remember again that a squeeze page isn’t there to actually “sell” anything to customers, but if it’s an attention grabber, it’s going to get people to notice you.

To create “the gift that keeps on giving” — for you and your business

And a final reason is that a great squeeze page is the gift that keeps on giving — to you and your business, that is. Why? Because it’s a great way for current subscribers to refer their friends to your mailing list and therefore your website. (Of course, you should include links in your e-mails, too, so that current subscribers can simply forward those e-mails onto their friends.) All your current subscribers have to do to send more information on to their friends is to refer them to your squeeze page. That way, the new “referred” subscriber can sign up and start receiving information too.

Remember that the squeeze page is supposed to be short and sweet, and it’s not a hard sell. Rather, it simply is meant to pique people’s interest enough that they’ll click “subscribe” without really thinking much about it. You can get into the nitty-gritty details of your business and services or products later, but what you really want to do is to give prospective subscribers enough information to whet their appetites for more.

Well, about week or so ago, I purchased a product for
